SUMMER! School ended last week, I got good grades. Here are some updates.
First – about that podcast network. I really appreciate all the feedback.. it was definitely motivating. I think, if I am to start it, it’ll happen in the Fall. Got enough going on this Summer and there’s still a lot to consider with the network.
Second, we recently relaunched MuggleNet. It has had the same design since Emerson birthed it in the Fall of 1999. I’m really, really happy with this new design. It’s coded beautifully (thanks to the equally beautiful Richard Reid) and includes lots of new features and functionality that we hope will bring more people to the site. We got a lot of feedback – good and bad – but I think it’s fair to say the majority was good. As for the negative, I think many of those people are just shocked to see this new design on a site that has been the same for ten years. With that said, we’ll continue to tweak the site as we get more feedback.
Related side note – this new MuggleNet got me really interested in learning CSS/HTML5. A goal this summer is to get a strong command of it.
Third, I got a lot of fun stuff going on this summer. We’re taking our Twilight podcast, Imprint, on a cross-country tour through the month of July. We did this for MuggleCast in the Summer of 2007 and it was a ton of fun. Part of the reason for doing this is it’ll be a really nice BFF trip for Matt, Elysa, Laura and I. Doing 11 live podcasts along the way adds to the fun. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park is having its Grand Opening on June 18th and I can’t wait for that. I recently learned they’re serving Strongbow in The Hogs Head. I had it for the first time in London a couple months ago and fell in love with it. So good. Anyway, I’ll be back in Orlando for Infinitus 2010 in July. Harry Potter symposiums are one of the funnest things. A large group of your best friends all converging on one place to mainly socialize for four – five days.. it’s too good. You always meet great new people too. At the end of every Harry Potter con I always end up with two or three new good friends. So I can’t wait to see who I meet this year.
Fourth, here’s what I’ve been listening to recently: U Smile by Justin Bieber (his Idol appearance got me into him), Nothin’ On You by B.o.B., Break Your Heart by Taio Cruz, Backstreets (alternate version) by Bruce Springsteen, Thundercrack (live) by Bruce Springsteen, Airplanes Part 2 by B.o.B. featuring Eminem/Hayley Williams, and The Only Exception by Paramore.
Fifth, I turned 21 last week. All the happy birthday wishes really, really made my day. I was in Vegas with a few friends and it was a ton of fun. The happy birthday wishes were a nice reminder of all the people who enjoy the podcasts and websites – it’s really motivating. So thanks!

hey Andrew! Belated Happy Bday too! I’m surprised all that wizarding world magic helped you to not wake up confused in Vegas during ur Bday weekend!
But yes! I just want to let you know that you are definitely one big influence on me- not just with being a muggle or one of the few guy fans of twilight, but also when it comes to your support on groups like “NO H8″ or whatever. You rock!
Can we pretend that Airplanes are like shooting stars? And of course, you are a shooting star, so keep sky rocketing!
Thundercrack and Backstreets are amazing! I’ve recently started listening to Bruce because of you and I absolutely love him.
You’re the man.
Does this mean July= no mugglecast=[
First, I really like the new MN layout.
Second, I wish the Imprint tour was coming to New Mexico.
Third, You should try listening to Hey Monday, or Cute is What We Aim For, or The Summer Set. They are all great!
Fourth, I was in Vegas just a week before you (I even stayed at the Palazzo too!). Too bad I missed you. We could have partied!
Mugglenet 2.0 looks amazing, especially with the decison for keeping the White text on black background
can’t wait for MuggleCast #200
Happy belated…see you in July on tour! Looking forward to meeting you all.
Hey see ya at Infinitus. Its my sweet 16 present and my mom let me go just so I can see you guys, she knows im obsessed. (well that and starkid productions, but yeah you get the idea)
anyways I’m so excited to hopefully meet you guys!
And do you know who is going to be at infnitus. you and matt i hope
It’s so fustrating that I’m going to America this year, but the one month I’m going is the month that nothing is happening! The imprint tour dates stop about a week before I arrive, and there are two great conventions I want to g to the weekend after I leave. That’s life, though, I guess =’[
But good luck on the tour, sounds like you’ll have a blast!
Also, I know it’s a biiigg ask, and you probably get bugged about it a lot, but will there ever be a chance of a SM / Mugglecast or Imprint tour in the UK? And not just in London ¬¬ they get all the good stuff. Seriously, I expect you’d get a brilliant turnout, especially for Mugglecast =) and we’ll give you lots of Strongbow, Andrew! (and make you show us the stipper video…)
I love the new MuggleNet! Very modern now.
Does this mean MuggleCast will get a makeover soon?
Also, I’m thinking of starting a podcast for one of the three book fandoms: Percy Jackson, Maximum Ride or Hunger Games.
Do you have any advice for me? I have an okay-quality microphone. I don’t have any co-hosts. None of my friends would be good to have on the show! Is a single-host show too boring?
Btw, Andrew, next time you’re in the area check out this shop! http://brainfood.howies.co.uk/2009/12/obsessive-about-soda/ it sounds absolutely fantastic, I’d love to go myself (but flying to LA seems extravagant for a soda
)
Andrew you should so make a justin bieber podcast!!! i would love u even more if u did that!!!! cmon u so should!!! especially if u make ur podcast network!!! i would host it or help u host it and i have a friend who could help too!!!!!!let me know k?
