Read The End of Overeating - it's a great book that sheds light on WHY THE HELL we want to eat snacks. The author argues that it's not that we want the *food*, we want the 5 seconds of pleasure we get with the food in our mouths. This book helped me a lot.

Hey, couple quick questions for you. One, in Michigan we don’t have Chick-Fil-A, but I do work at a Subway. If I stick with the 6-inch subs that are 7 grams of fat or less, think that’ll work? Second, how long per day do you normally work out, and how much of that is cardio (running, elliptical, exercise bike, etc)?
What music do you like to listen to while you’re working out? Thanks…..and please say something OTHER than Bruce Springsteen.
We all know Andrew loves Lady GaGa too. But I am interested in the music question too. What do you listen to on a day to day basis?
And the water advice is such a great tip. Totally works for me!
Isn’t 135 a little low for a full grown guy? Most guys are 135 in grade 9. If I’m a teenager wanting to get in shape, what are the best things to eat/do if I don’t have access to all the protein shakes
This is pretty helpful, but I have a big question, that kind of covers all the subjects you’ve hit upon. I’m 16 this year, so my parents still basically decide what I get to eat. Don’t get me wrong, my mum is a fab cook and she gives me pretty healthy meals, but often I do feel like I’m eating too much fat and salt. At the same time, because of where I live and my age, I can’t really go to a gym. Installing the pullup bar sounds great, but not sure my parents would be impressed :L do you have any tips for keeping healthy in this situation?
Oh, and also, what does Matt think of your regime – does he do all this too?
Do you have any tips to getting a flat stomach? I’m not fat, but I hate the rolls in my belly! Any tips?
No matter what I try, I cannot seem to flatten my lower stomach. I used to do cruches quite frequently, but I recieved no results. I also gave up soda and have seen no difference. Any suggestions?
What’s your favorite calorie blastor? I tend to over-eat at parties, so how should I make up for this the next day?
Hey Andrew, I see that you use Splenda when you go to Starbucks. I highly suggest changing this habit. Splenda is an artificial sweetner with aspamtame, similar to pure aspartame sweetners like sweet and low. Many people, without knowing it, are really affected by aspartame. My family is highly intolerant to it and gets very sick from eating it, even from chewing a piece of sugar free gum. Aspartame can hurt people without them knowing it though. One of the most common symptoms is headaches or any kind of head/back/neck pain. These symptoms can show up even 5 minutes after drinking that coffee with splenda! It can lead to memory loss and cancer in later life though. Some people even die from eating it. It chemical structure can be altered by heat causing part of it to be turn into menthonal after heated and digested. Think I’m lying? Look up the video documentry “A poisoned world” or something to that effect. Really eye opening. Some websites run by aspartame companies will deny all of this, but websites like opendor.com show that their “scientific data” was all corupted by their bias and is not to be trusted. Truvia seems fine because it is natural. I really hope you consider what I’m saying. I love all of your podcasts and don’t want them to end early!
Just wanted to clarify Liesl’s comment – Splenda is actually made with sucralose, not aspartame, and is heat-stable.

That said, I’m not a fan of artificial sweeteners, and although I used to use Splenda, I don’t anymore. I’m trying to talk my mum out of it, too!
Andrew, it’s great to hear how you’re staying healthy. I know fruits and veggies aren’t the easiest thing to get into, especially if you didn’t grow up eating a lot of them (and a lot of people our age didn’t), but you should give ‘em a shot!
I always get the “half your plate should be vegetables” speech from my mother. I’m not there yet either. But even just a banana in the morning, or a sliced apple, or a salad with your dinner is a great thing!
Hope that wasn’t preachy. I wish you all the best!
